Ein Sommernachtstraum
Family concert

Description

A family concert for children from 10 years

Opus 61 by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in a version for harmony music for wind quintet

Performed by the Miroir Quintet

The overture >>A Midsummer Night's Dream<< is the masterpiece of the 17-year-old Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and it also makes audiences of our days sit up and take notice: Those who are not yet familiar with Shakespeare's comedy will guess at the mysterious fairy world of elves, dancing ruffians and the playful imp Puck. On the other hand, those who are already familiar with the poetry will be amazed to notice how subtly the composer has translated the mood of the actor into the language of sound.
