Description

Arnold Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony No. 1 opens the door to what is known as “New Music” and, with it, to a completely new way of listening. Suddenly, notes are no longer conceived solely in familiar harmonies, but as independent entities. This musical breakthrough can also be interpreted as a reflection of societal changes: away from hierarchies, toward greater equality and new structures. Principal conductor Gabriel Venzago invites In between to rediscover this work together. Without a traditional stage, with musicians spread throughout the space and the opportunity to move among them, an immediate sound experience emerges from ever-changing perspectives. Through engaging insights and personal commentary, barriers are broken down and new approaches are created—for music that is often considered challenging yet is full of expressive power.
