Description
South Korean conductor Yura Yang returns to Constance and Undine makes an appearance - in Lortzing's overture to the opera of the same name, the action of which begins in a fisherman's hut on the lakeshore. The story of the unhappy love between man and mermaid is told in the romantic folk tone that also underlies Gustav Mahler's “Wunderhorn” songs. Mahler chose the humorous “Rheinlegendchen”, among others, for his setting. Christina Landshamer, one of the world's most sought-after concert, opera and lieder singers, makes her debut at the Konzil. In contrast to this is Dvořák's Seventh Symphony - a patriotic work full of drama that was premiered in London.
