Peruvian composer Jimmy López drew inspiration from Michael Ende’s *The Neverending Story* for his fifth “fantastic” symphony. Following its acclaimed premiere in the U.S., the work is now being performed in Germany for the first time. Dresden violinist Charlotte Thiele makes her debut with Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. Haydn, for his part, shocked his London audience with a solo timpani roll and said, “You have to wake people up!”
