Fest der Farben
8th Philharmonic Concert

Description

Maurice Ravel was so enthusiastic about Chabrier’s *Fête Polonaise* that he claimed it had transformed the entire French modernist movement—a sparkling celebration of colors. As an elegant contrast, Tchaikovsky’s *Rococo Variations* offer one of the most beautiful, wistful homages to Mozart, demanding an almost weightless, dance-like lightness from cellist Alexey Stadler. Dvořák’s Sixth is brimming with Bohemian exuberance and Slavic dances. Under the baton of South Korean conductor Sora Elisabeth Lee, these folk roots merge with orchestral brilliance to create a celebration of the joy of life.
