Description

Brahms' Double Concerto was an attempt at musical reconciliation with the violinist Joseph Joachim, whose friendship had almost broken down due to a divorce dispute. Clara Schumann was also present at the premiere of this late work - the woman who once inspired Robert Schumann to write his first symphony: “in that springtime urge that carries people away into old age.”
