Description
A serenade for the jubilarian: Hans Werner Henze's wedding music for his ballet “Undine” commemorates the composer's 100th birthday - and his early years as an assistant at the Theater Konstanz. Brahms' Double Concerto was an attempt at musical reconciliation with the violinist Joseph Joachim, whose friendship had almost broken down due to a divorce dispute. Clara Schumann was also present at the premiere of this late work - the woman who once inspired Robert Schumann to write his first symphony: “in that springtime urge that carries people away into old age.”
