Description
Louise Farrenc was a fixture in 19th-century Parisian musical life, and her Trésor des Pianistes was an editorial masterpiece – yet her music was long forgotten. She opens this concert program, which moves between eras and perspectives, with her energetic overture. Mendelssohn Bartholdy's “Scottish Symphony” was composed during a trip through the Highlands – a musical travelogue that was only completed 13 years later.
