Description
Louise Farrenc was an established figure in 19th century Parisian musical life, her “Trésor des Pianistes” an editorial masterpiece - and yet her music was long forgotten. She opens this concert program, which moves between eras and perspectives, with her energetic overture. György Ligeti's violin concerto experiments with layers of sound and shifts in rhythm - a work between external influences and inner images, which the composer himself saw as a snapshot. Mendelsohn Bartholdy's “Scottish Symphony” was composed on a journey through the Highlands - a musical travelogue that was only completed 13 years later.
