Description
The “Sinfonia concertante” is a mixture of symphony and concerto – very popular in Paris at the end of the 18th century. Mozart's contribution to this genre was inspired by a trip there – overshadowed by the death of his mother, which he initially kept secret from his father. The second movement is noticeably imbued with sadness and longing. Mozart's penultimate symphony, also in E-flat major – the key of the sublime – was described by contemporaries as his swan song. The soloists are the young talents from the Klassifest Zurich Schmiede, Sophie Branson and Lisanne Schick.
